Movie Review - The Heat

From the creators of Bridesmaids, we get a film about an FBI agent teaming up with a cop to help with bringing a specific case to a close. My first impressions of this were that it was going to be a chick flick and as someone who enjoys films, I don't like chick flicks of any sort. However, now that I have watched it, it is a chick flick, but actually a good one that I enjoyed a lot. So lets take a look:

The film focuses on a FBI special agent called Sarah Ashburn (played by Sandra Bullock in possibly the 10th film I've seen her in so far) who is a very skilled and effective investigator, but is more or less hated by her peers for her odd personality (which for the most part is socially awkward and the "I'm better than you" attitude). Her boss, who is called Hale (played by Demian Bichir) has her sent to Boston to work with the local police force on a case to do with a drug kingpin called Larkin (who I won't be saying who he is played by as it will hint to spoilers) which if successful in both the case and working with others, he will consider her for a promotion. She gets partnered up with a police officer who uses violence and a form of foul mouth language, who is called Shannon Mullins (played by Melissa McCarthy who was in Bridesmaids). Then for the rest of the film, its just them clashing with each other, getting told off by their bosses and the DEA and just constantly failing with getting the case closed.

Now as I said, I don't like chick flicks and this was a chick flick, but it was a chick flick that I actually enjoyed. For the most part, it is predictable on what's happening (and the majority of these kinds of films, tend to be that way these days) and I do feel that it was underrated for the stuff that the film had in it, but it was a very funny and an enjoyable film overall. 7/10
