Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Review - Pilot (S1, E1)

Now as I've been doing plenty of Doctor Who episode reviews for a while now, I felt that if I just reviewed episodes of that one and only show, it would get boring. Which is why I've decided to review episodes of another show which all you Avengers fans out there will no doubt love. This is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, the first episode:

So much like with most pilot episodes, this was just a way to establish the characters and the world that they live in. We get to meet some old faces like the resurrected (slight spoiler alert there) Phil Coulson (played by Clark Gregg who played that role in Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor and The Avengers) and some new ones as well. Coulson is forming a new S.H.I.E.L.D team and recruits a couple of people to help with something that has arisen to do with a man who has something inside him that those of you who have seen Iron Man 3, will be aware of, which is causing him to be as he puts it, the "bad guy".

Now as someone who has watched plenty of shows like this one, I thought this was a pretty good episode. It does extremely well to retain continuity with the universe it shares with the Avengers films and the question about Coulson's survival is explained in some way which I would think would satisfy fans. I hope this show can follow in the footsteps of shows like Doctor Who because I can see this as being a very popular show among fans of the Avengers. 8/10
