Doctor Who Review - The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker)

And now we come to the longest serving actor to play the doctor, Tom Baker. Tom Baker played the 4th incarnation of the doctor for a whopping seven seasons (1974-1981) and 2 one off specials, making him the longest actor to have a regular appearance as the doctor.

Now I know for a fact that Tom Baker is a fan favorite among the Whovians and after seeing some footage of him in action, I can see why. He's unpredictable and more alienish than his predecessors. His personality is very mixed in that at times, he can be humorous and has some form of warmth to those around him, but on other occasions he can be very dark and serious. To his companions, he serves as a sort of father figure to them in that he is very protective of them and doesn't want anything to happen to them. Like with Pertwee, he is capable of using a sword and is good when in combat. He also has a fascination for jelly babies and a lot of the time, wears a scarf and a hat, both of which would then become iconic from the show.

As a doctor, he is again very likable and I think his mixed emotions work in that you never know what he'll do next. One of the greatest doctors, in my opinion. 9/10
