Random Movie Review - Grease

So kicking off the month of school films, we get one of the greatest musicals of all time, Grease. But is it still as good as it was back when it was originally released (which by the way, was way before my time? Let's find out:

Now I don't think I need to go into too much detail about the plot because everyone knows it, but for the sake of this review, I'm going to do it anyway. So a local boy named Danny Zuko (played by John Travolta) and an Australian girl called Sandy Olsson (played by Olivia Newton-John), both at the high school age, meet on a beach and what a surprise, they fall in love. Sandy feels that her and Dan will never meet again when she returns to Australia as the summer ends, but Dan thinks otherwise. We then go to the start of a senior term at Rydell High School where we find out that Dan is part of a gang that call themselves The T-Birds. We also get to see a girl gang of some sort called The Pink Ladies and when she finds out that her parents decide to not return to Australia, Sandy enrols herself at Rydell and becomes part of the Pink Ladies. And you can probably guess where things go from there. Sandy and Danny reunite with each other and continue to have a romantic relationship and that's it.

Having seen this film a number of times, its OK. I mean its not bad by any means, but I just feel that it can be just too cheesy and predictable and I also felt that there wasn't much character development with the supporting cast, but with all that aside, its still as good as it was back when it first came to our screens and I like it. 9/10
