500th Blog Post Special - RMR - LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers

Well I've reached 500 posts, you all know the score, its time for something LEGO. This time around, I take a look at the first LEGO movie with minifigures and I say first because it is the first with the LEGO Movie (out next year) being the second, strictly speaking (and I don't count any of the 4D films or the many short films because they aren't really films as such). Anyway, let's take a look at this film:

Clutch Powers (voiced by Ryan McPartlin) is finishing off a mission on finding an energy crystal to power LEGO City and upon completion, is reluctantly given a team consisting of weapons and demolition expert Brick Masterson (voiced by Roger Rose), biologist Peg Mooring (voiced by Yvonne Strahovski) and engineer Bernie von Beam (voiced by Jeff Bennett) who secretly fancies Peg. Clutch's team is tasked with hunting down 3 escaped criminals from a Space Police prison facility and they do just that, although in this film, we only see them find and capture one of them.

As direct to DVD films go, I thought it was ok. The film manages to use the many themes that LEGO has in a very creative way and there are moments where it can be predictable and just odd. But for the most part, its a good first attempt by LEGO and I look forward to see what happens in the next film. 7/10
