Random Movie Review - Paranormal Activity 4

So here we have the 4th entry in the series that has given people all over the world, nightmares and a fear of paranormal entities. Does it answer any questions that the previous 3 films left for us? Let's find out:

So the film gives us a bit of a backstory to the series (for mainly the newcomers) which finishes with the words "Katie and Hunter's whereabouts remain unknown". The actual film itself, takes place in late 2011 and unlike the previous films, the entity is now haunting a family that have no connection to Katie and Hunter's family, except for them being their neighbours. A lot of the footage of the entity is done using Macbooks, a Kinect, smart phones and a Canon XA10 which the film makers wanted to do so that it doesn't follow the trend that the other films had where they just use cameras. Anyway, so this family come across a boy named Robbie (played by Brady Allen) who has been hiding in their tree-house. Apparently, his mother has fallen ill so he is taken into the care of this family and what a shock, they begin to be haunted by the entity which the last film called it Toby.

As someone who liked the previous 3 films but acknowledges that they all had problems, this wasn't a very good entry as it further continued to give us more questions with a number of them left unanswered and sometimes, you think this it's just an hour a 40 minutes long advert for the Kinect and the Macbooks than an actual entry in the series. Another thing that I can find wrong with this, is that it doesn't really offer any new elements to the entity as we still get characters possessed by the entity and all the throwing around and jump scares. If this series has any chance in making things better, just give the entity more things to do rather than the same things over and over again and actually answer those questions that we all have instead of just confusing us more. 7/10
