Book Review - Creativity Inc: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration

Still no gaming stuff for me to do? Well that's ok. So instead, I give you a look into a book about Pixar. Now Pixar has gone a long way since its success with Toy Story having given us hit after hit in films (well until Cars 2 that is), joining forces with the likes of Steve Jobs and George Lucas and more recently, getting picked up by a more good than bad Disney who at the time, were working on their animation department. This book from my point of view, talks about everything to do with Pixar and I can honestly say, its a great read. Let's take a look:

Created by the president of Pixar and Disney Animation Ed Catmull with help from fellow Pixar co-worker Amy Wallace, this book, while basically giving us the story of Pixar and the evolution of Disney Animation, is aimed for employers to use to help their employees and business get to new heights and I think it does a very good job of it. It explains the things that went wrong with Pixar (including the controversy of Circle 7, Michael Eisner's corruption of Disney and why Cars 2, Brave and Monsters University didn't do as well as Pixar's other films), the things that worked (including the hit films from Toy Story to Toy Story 3) and how Steve Jobs and George Lucas got involved. There's even a few things that you not actually know about Pixar.

Now I've been a loyal supporter of Pixar since I went to the cinema to see their very first film Toy Story which by memory, was the second film I ever saw in the cinema after The Lion King and I loved it as you know. So it was a very good and interesting read about how a business can go to new heights and actually made a whole lot of sense about the whole Disney buying Pixar fiasco as well as their animation departments going to new lengths. I recommend getting this book because it will literally make you see Pixar from a whole new perspective. 9/10
