Its been a few months since the 3DS game came out and since the 50 fact video, people have been getting very hyped for what could be the best Smash Bros. game of the series so far. Its pretty much the superior one out of it and the 3DS version as there is more stuff in there and other things too. And just to be clear, even though they are simply 2 games each having their own exclusive features, I would call them both as the 4th instalment of the series because of them both having the same playable characters and some modes being the same as well. That said, let's take a look at the fastest selling Wii U game so far (which beat the record previously held by Mario Kart 8 earlier this year):
So like with the 3DS version, there are a total of 51 playable characters (including the upcoming Mewtwo who will act as DLC for those who register both games on Club Nintendo before spring of next year) along with 47 stages (including the Miiverse one which is to come at a later date), up to 12 modes and a huge list of music that surpass what the 3DS had. In fact, everything in this game surpasses the 3DS game. So its the first in the series to be seen in HD and I have to say the graphics look really good and smooth and it follows the Skylanders and Disney Infinity route of having us use figures known as Amiibos who basically represent the fighters in the game and you have to feed them stats upgrades and have them battle to give them more stats. To date, only 29 of these are available with 12 out now and the remaining 17 to be coming out at a later date, though Nintendo have stated that they intend to have all fighters as Amiibos eventually and Smash Bros. will not be the only game that will use them as games like Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 will be using them as well, but for different purposes. Unlike its predecessors, this game has a heavy focus on multiplayer as up to 8 fighters can play at once on a stage in Smash, but you are quite limited to what stages you can use them on and it can be tricky to keep an eye on your character which kind of sucks, but hey. In addition to this, some modes that in the past were treated as single player modes only, you can now play some modes with more than one player such as Classic (which has you and a friend team up and choose whichever fights you want to do instead of it being picked for you through an automatic path, before eventually facing Master Hand, Master Core and Crazy Hand depending on the difficulty chosen), All-Star (which unlike the 3DS game, has you battle characters chronologically, but in reverse so you start with the more recent characters and end with battling the old school ones) and the Stadium games (which varies for each one like some will have you take turns and others will have you work together). Online has been made better which is great and much like with Brawl, you can watch all the trailers and play trail versions of some virtual console games too. In the 3DS game you have Smash Run which plays out like Subspace Emissary from Brawl, just vastly toned down so that it has one big stage full of enemies from all games represented in both games and has you collect stats upgrades to use in the final battle or race or whatever you get. But in the Wii U game, you have Smash Tour which plays out like a board game and you collect characters and stats upgrades which you would then use in any fights that you have with the other players on the board (if you both end up on the same space) and all those stats and characters, you can then use in the big finale at the end. And that's pretty much the game in a nutshell.
It is a great game that is vastly better than the 3DS game in that it expands on everything that, that game had and adds a whole lot more. There's enough stuff in here to keep you occupied for a very long time and I like that the game is tailored to all gamers needs in the sense of what controllers you can use (including the 3DS and Gamecube controllers of all things) and the idea of customising your fighters via Amiibos. There are a few little problems like there can be too much to take in and so forth, but if you're a big fan of Nintendo and enjoy playing their games (as well as SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog, Capcom's Megaman and Namco's Pac-Man franchises), then chances are that you will enjoy this a lot and I'm even surprised that such a big game like this, is getting DLC. I mean, it can't really get any bigger than this. It just can't. 9/10
