The last film I will be reviewing from an all time favourite film maker of mine this month, is from the late Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock who told the world that the scariest thing out there is the thing that you don't see at all. He has done a number of films across a wide range of genres with many distributors, most notably Paramount, Warner Bros. and Universal and as I did Psycho last year, it was hard to choose a film of his to review. Now naturally I will be looking at most of the films he has done over time, but for today, we will be looking at another film that follows a similar style to Psycho called Vertigo. So let's take a look:
The film follows a former police officer called John "Scottie" Ferguson (played by James Stewart) who suffers with acrophobia and vertigo which during his police days, caused the death of a policeman, which led to his retirement. He tries hard to overcome this fear of his, but a friend and ex-fiancée of his, suggests that another severe emotional shock, could very well be the only known cure. But as the film continues, he knows that the vertigo could cause some death and destruction to his loved ones.
So many people have called this one of Hitchcock's best works and have regarded it as one of the greatest films of all time. Looking at it myself, I can see why many people would call this a great film. It is in a way, a very bizarre film, but it has a good story, some top notch acting and I guess the visuals look great as well. All from the mind of the suspense master himself. 9/10
