Random Movie Review - A Clockwork Orange

So this is another film from the great Stanley Kubrick and one that is by far in comparison to his other work, the most controversial film he had ever made. It has a lot of adult themes, its often associated with Horror and Halloween and for as long as I've been around, it has never been seen on TV for how controversial it is. I have seen plenty of controversial films and TV shows and have played a number of controversial video games (but most of the controversies in video games are pretty dumb in my opinion), but this one I think has had the worst of it. It was originally withdrawn from release in the UK for 27 years and was often referred to in many cases that were dealt in court. But ultimately, the film did get its long awaited release in the UK following Kubrick's passing and to this day, it is regarded as a great film and has gained a cult following as a result. So let's look at one of the most controversial yet brilliant films ever made:

So we are in a futuristic London where we meet a gang of people who like causing much trouble and chaos. This gang was led by one Alex DeLarge (played by long time actor, Malcolm McDowell). One night, after being intoxicated with milk laced with drugs (or drencrom as they call it), they engage in a night of ultra-violence which included beating up a rival gang and an elderly person, stealing a car, almost cripple the life of writer F. Alexander (played by the late Patrick Magee) and raping his wife while singing "Singing in the Rain". The next day, Alex's probation officer gives him a caution regarding his activities. This then leads into more mayhem and chaos as well as his gang betraying him, ultimately leading into his arrest by the police and is sentenced to serve 14 years in jail, during which he tries to change his ways for the better.

So having seen this, I can see why so many people would not want to watch this because of how adult and mature it is. You could say that this is only associated with horror and Halloween because of how violent and in a way, scary it is. Nevertheless, its a great film. A difficult watch for a lot of people I would say, but a great film otherwise that just sees how some minds can be so twisted. 9/10
