Monthly Update - December 2015

Its nearly over, but we still have one more month to go before the halfway point of the 2010s ends.

So as usual for December, we will be having a single post every day in the lead up to Christmas which will include the remainder of Doctor Who episodes of series 9 and just general things to do with films that families will often see at this time of the year such as film reviews and whatnot. And in the spirit of things, among these many things, we will be travelling to a galaxy far far away in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So look forward to all that.

Now for a theory:

What species is Yoda?
As with any franchise, Star Wars has had its fair share of theories over the years from finding out if the Jedi are evil, to whether Han Solo really did shoot first. But today, talk about Yoda, we will (see what I did there). Yoda is a fan favourite in Star Wars, having appeared in 5 of the 6 films in the saga and is surprisingly a good fighter despite his age. But one thing that people have been asking for years is what is Yoda's species. According to George Lucas, he wants Yoda's species to remain a mystery which has been the case since he debuted in Empire Strikes Back and on the Star Wars wiki (appropiately titled Wookiepedia), he's of the Yoda species. So not really much to go on there, but let's dive deeper. What we do know is that Yoda is not the last of his own kind as the expanded universe features other characters that are similar to him in every way with regards to appearances and their use of the Force. They have been compared to a species called the Lannik in that they bear resemblance to that very species. Lucas even thinks that he is a frog who could very well be the child of Kermit and Miss Piggy of the Muppets. Now that isn't really a theory to go on as such as this franchise took place a long time ago and the Muppets take place now so this theory is just not a working theory. But going back to his species, many fans have gone on to say that his species is the Whills which Lucas has denied. I guess his species will never really be explained, but with Disney at the helm for the future of Star Wars, there may be hope yet. Wait, we will is all I can say. May the force be with us all now and forever (and let's hope and pray that Force Awakens is good).

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
