Movie Review - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

I will say that ever since Harry Potter was still being filmed, they set the standard for what other book to film adaptations would do to end their series of films and that is to split the last book into 2 films. Since that time, that is exactly what we got, but I think of all the ones that I know of, The Hunger Games is the only one that I can confirm is a worthy competitor to those films. Of course nothing can beat Harry Potter and the greatness but questionable thing that it is, but of these survival young adult book to film adaptations, Hunger Games is the best without any question. I will admit that I have only read one book, but it is great. So let's review the final film of the series as well as Philip Seymour Hoffman's last ever film:

So without giving away any spoilers to those of you who haven't seen the first part and read the book (or books if you haven't read them), Katniss (reprised for the last time by Jennifer Lawrence) continues her duties as the Mockingjay and must find her way into the Capitol to finish off President Snow (also reprised for the last time by Donald Sutherland) once and for all and bring the war to a end or as Finnick (again, reprised for the last time by Sam Claflin) would put it, the 76th Hunger Games. As with any Part 2 films of a single book, there will be blood shed, some revelations revealed and a lot of surprises, twists and turns along the way.

So as with any part 2 film, the second part generally is much more action packed than the first as the first merely serves as build up. I found this film to be at points a difficult one to watch (especially at the opening scene), but otherwise, I enjoyed it. I feel that it ends the series on a satisfactory note, it manages to handle Hoffman's scenes quite well despite his passing, its very action packed and despite the tone of it, its not as depressing as most films like this can be at times. It is also very well acted from everyone involved. 9/10
