Video Game Review - Star Wars Battlefront

When this series of games happened for the first time, I never really got that interested in it and that is surprising to a lot of you considering that I'm a huge Star Wars fan. But the thing is, there is many Star Wars games out there that its hard to choose which one is right for me. Force Unleashed was a nice story based video game, despite the gameplay lackluster. The LEGO Star Wars video games was a great series that combined the action of Star Wars with the fun and humour of LEGO. And Old Republic is BioWare being BioWare with the storytelling and the great gameplay. But this being an important year for Star Wars, of course I would be investing my money into Star Wars things and Battlefront is just the tip of the iceberg. So may the force we with us as I review this game. And then after that, it will be the new film:

So the game has you play through the events of the original trilogy in which its a battle to see who will get control of the galaxy. The Empire or the Rebellion. There are a lot of familiar places to battle on with both sides which include the forest moon of Endor (home to the Ewoks), the icy planet of Hoth (where the first few scenes of Empire Strikes Back takes place), the dessert wasteland of Tatooine (home to Jabba the Hutt as well as the place where the Skywalker boys spent most of their time at) and many others. There are many ways for these battles to happen which can be on foot using a 1st or 3rd person perspective (entirely up to the player) or using some kind of vehicle on the ground or in the air. There are plenty of playable characters to play as which can be anything from a generic rebel or stormtrooper to some iconic characters like Luke Skaywalker and Darth Vader. Each with their own set of skills and abilities. The game can be played with a friend locally as well as online too which is good if you're a Star Wars fan.

Despite the lack of a single player campaign (though a co-op campaign would've been great as well), this game is pretty much what I was expecting to see. A game that allows fans to battle on some of the most well known places in the Star Wars universe without the need to spend too much money just to do these battles on arcade cabinets. It also looks very well presented with the graphics being very realistic which alone has managed to make this game the closest to capturing the look and feel of Star Wars as a whole. And anyone who's feeling pumped for The Force Awakens (the next Star Wars thing I will be reviewing as I previously mentioned), you can get your hands on a DLC that preludes the events of that film. So hopefully this can be enough to keep you occupied until the new film comes out in just a matter of weeks. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2
