Movie Series Review - James Bond 007 (Timothy Dalton era)

So next up is Timothy Dalton. Now I think most of you will know this guy for being in such things like Doctor Who (The End of Time Part 1 and 2), Hot Fuzz (the guy who owns the supermarket) and Toy Story 3 and its subsequent short films that followed (the hedgehog toy with an English accent) so based on that, he is quite well known and has tackled many things that most people would consider as nostalgic with James Bond being one of them. His portrayal of James Bond has been met with a mixed reception with some liking him taking on a more darker and real take on the character, and others having other opinions. Personally, I do like people who show a character's more darker side so with him at the helm, it made me like the films he was in, which was only 2. He isn't the actor who has been Bond the shortest, but he would come second to that any day. So enough talk, let's look at his films:

The Living Daylights
So in his first outing as Bond, Bond is sent to protect a Soviet defector which would lead him to travel across many places in the world for his safety and to make sure he doesn't fall into the wrong hands. So as I said in the introduction, this is really what I like in Bond films. The realism, the dark turns and of course, the action packed moments and the gadgetry. Even though Dalton is only in 2 Bond films, I think his first film instantly made people love his take on the character. 9/10

License to Kill
In Dalton's second and final film, Bond acts as the best man for his CIA friend Felix Leiter (played in this film by David Hedison) at his wedding. But things take a turn for the worst when a drug lord begins to put his friend and his wife in danger and so Bond sets out to find this drug lord and bring him to justice. Seeing this film makes me realise how much we love Dalton as Bond. The action is intense, it continues the realism and dark tones that the last film had and it will please Bond fans old and new. But a word of advice. When releasing a film, don't release it the same time as bigger films because this came out near enough to the same time that Lethal Weapon 2, Indiana Jones 3 (starring former Bond, Sean Connery) and Batman (Tim Burton film) came out, something of which Alvin 4 should've learnt, but oh well. Still a good film despite that. 9/10

Its a shame Tim didn't stay longer because I think his Bond is one of the best takes on the character as he brings the realism and dark tone of the character very well. But hey at least we got 2 films with him in so I'm happy. 9/10
