Random Video Game Review - Cuphead

So ever since this game was shown off at E3, the thing that had always puzzled me is how can you do a game that pays tribute to the old cartoons that many of us grew up with. And yet somehow a developer did just that. They made a game, they used old timey wimy graphics to give it a nostalgia boost and its pretty much what you would expect from a game paying tribute to old cartoons. Just without the racism and controversy that cartoons generally used a lot back then (and this was at a time where this was allowed in many countries). So let's relive some more nostalgia as we dig into Cuphead:

The story is about two brothers, one called Mughead and the other called Cuphead. One day, the pair are lured into a casino where they seemingly maintain a winning streak in a game of craps. But when the devil appears before them, he gives them the option to either win against him and own the casino or lose and give him their souls. Ultimately, the give up their souls, but when pleading for mercy, the devil then allows them to get contracts for lost souls for him before midnight and he will consider about giving back their souls. So the game is a platformer where up to two players can play and the goal is largely beating up a number of very difficult bosses as you go about setting things straight with this Devil guy. Plus you get a skill tree that can be upgraded over the course of the game as well as a overworld map to access levels and what have you. Graphics are very reminiscent of those old cartoons which is actually better in some way as it gives the game some authenticity if any.

So as it is, it is a fun but very difficult game. Its nostalgic in every way imaginable, it's almost like watching a cartoon if it came out during the early 1900s and because of its difficulty, its best being played with a friend. And if I'm being honest, despite the difficulty, there is actually no faults I can identify in this game. No seriously. There is nothing to criticise here. Well I guess there is one I can come up with which is the delays in getting this game. Why didn't we get it sooner, I guess we will never know. 10/10
