Movie Review - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Many of us all over the world love dinosaurs and our history has always told us of them and what they are. But they are now more popular than ever thanks to the Jurassic Park franchise which thanks to the fourth film Jurassic World, has made it more popular to a new generation of people. Now we have its sequel which is expected to have the climatic historical event that wiped out the dinosaurs originally, play out in a similar but fictional manner in this film. Its going to be epic and not everyone will survive as always so let's get our jaws out and watch it:

Three years after the fall of Jurassic World, a group of mercenaries use a submarine to find DNA of the deceased Indominus Rex which they successfully retrieve at the cost of three men and the release of the Mosasaurus that lived in the depths of those waters. The government that debate on whether to save the dinosaurs or leave them to die with Dr. Ian Malcolm (reprised by Jeff Goldblum) arguing that nature should take its cause and they should be left to die. Former park manager of Jurassic World Claire Dearing (reprised by Bryce Dallas Howard) has formed a group who's one goal is to protect the dinosaurs at all costs and is called to the estate of the late John Hammond's business partner Benjamin Lockwood (played by the farmer in Babe, James Cromwell) who wants Claire to return to the island to retrieve the velociraptor Blue as part of a mission to save all the dinosaurs and relocate them to another less hostile island. Agreeing to do this on the condition that her team recruits Blue's trainer Owen Grady (reprised by Chris Pratt), Claire and her team go to the island unaware that Lockwood's aid Eli Mills (played by Rafe Spall who was one of those detectives in Hot Fuzz) has much greater plans for the dinosaurs that go against what Lockwood is asking for.

I'll be honest, its not the best nor the worst film of the overall franchise. It has some decent acting from everyone and it does have some good scary moments and action sequences and nods to the franchise as a whole. But despite all that, the story is a tad predictable and the whole idea of selling and torturing dinosaurs for nothing more than greed and pleasure is a plot point that in any film I just don't like the idea of. The side characters who came from the Dinosaur team that Claire put together who are part of her team later on, can be quite annoying at times. And just like in the previous film, there is another hybrid dinosaur that goes down a similar path to the Indominus Rex of the last film. Overall, its got a lot of bad things, but its not all bad. I just wish the writing was better and it could actually be less predictable than it was. So yeah not the best overall film of the franchise, but any film in my eyes can beat III any day. 7/10
