Random Video Game Review - The Forest

So first video game review for the month and we look at another survival game. Now I have seen many films about plane crashes and have watched a lot of Air Crash Investigation episodes, but I don't think I have ever played a game about survival from a plane crash. At least not one that has that as its main focus over everything else. It probably has the most misleading title now that you have heard about it being set after a plane crash. But enough talk, let's see how this plays out:

Set in what can be assumed to be the present day, a father and his son are sitting inside an airplane where somehow, it then crashes into the titular forest. His son is then kidnapped and so the father tasks himself to find him while trying to survive himself in doing so. Its pretty much how most survival games play out where you need to make shelters, find food and keep hydrated as you progress. The so called enemies of the game can actually react differently depending on how you approach them. Some may just choose to watch you from a distance while others may patrol around you. Though they are known to get aggressive too. Although there is that overall objective to save your son, its actually optional according to the developers who all come from a film visual effects background hence why the game is presented really well.

I guess overall its a pretty decent game for what it is. Not much in the way of innovation, but its an OK game. Its presented well, the gameplay is pretty good and believe it or not, it's got some nostalgia value as its largely inspired by various films that have gained cult followings as well as it being made by people of a film visual effects background. 7/10
