Random Video Game Review - Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

So this review was more because I continue to look into my ever growing Steam library to find something to review and I have now decided to review the games I have that Steam has got on sale. So in a way, I'm doing them a favor by reviewing the game. So here we have a game that plays out very similar to games like Commandos and Desperados which rely on stealth and real time tactics. Though instead of cowboys and army men, this is more shogun than any of them. So let's take a look:

Set loosely in Japan's Edo period, a warlord has emerged with the intent to bring down the stabability of the country. Because of this, the shogun who has unified Japan after years of war calls upon a samurai to find this warlord and eliminate him before Japan falls to his knees. Though not before allowing the samurai to find and recruit allies along the way. So as this is a real time strategy game, lots of stealth is expected to be involved as you fulfil your missions whether it be to elminate targets, find useful information, sabotage various operations and so much more. There are of course three different levels of difficulty with each having their own set of achievements. Enemies can find the player characters using various means, but there will always be a way around them somewhere. Lots of enviroments and various tatics to complete missions are all here too.

Now having only ever played at least one game from the Desperados series, this game is pretty good even though innovation isn't its strongest selling point. Its got a lot of variety and a lot of challenges with strategy being the big sell point. Its not for everyone granted, but its certainly worth checking out if you are into real time strategy games. 8/10
