Random Movie Review - Transformers: The Last Knight

Its been a long time coming and at long last, Michael Bay's directed Transformers saga is at an end. When compared to many of the most beloved and box office record breaking film franchises, Transformers is up there as being one of the worst. All the films up to this last one in this series were directed by Michael Bay who we all know is not a great film maker despite once being the protege of George Lucas (a far better film maker overall, but is known to not be completely great at directing). The films are unnecessarily long, there's always a lot of orange tint in each shot and they can come across as insulting to the female and racial demographics while also being pretty predictable and lord knows what else. But I am glad that Paramount recognises now that the films aren't great and I wish them well in this new series that started off strong with Bumblebee. So let's see what happens in this one:

So guess what. Transformers were not only involved with the dinosaurs, but also with medieval times as well. We get to see King Arthur (played by Liam Garrigan) and his knights in a losing battle against the Saxons. Meanwhile Merlin (played by Stanley Tucci who previously played one of the villains turned heroes in Age of Extinction) somehow manages to turn the tide of the battle with help from the Knights of Iacon, a bunch of Transformers in hiding who give Merlin an alien staff, but warn him of a great evil that will come for it. We then move to the present where Optimus Prime (reprised by Peter Cullen) finally arrives on Cybertron before being brainwashed by his alleged creator Quintessa (voiced by Gemma Chan) into finding the staff on Earth in the hopes to use it to restore Cybertron at the cost of Earth and its resources while renaming him Nemesis Prime. Back on Earth, the Transformers find refuge in Cuba after a new task force is put in place to hunt them down. Something of which the US Military is against due to some of its members' allegiance with the Autobots at various points in the series. But what's happening with Optimus soon comes to Earth and its up to our heroes to stop it even if it means going to the UK to do just that.

This is a bad film. Its more of the same in terms of a unnecessarily run time, insulting all the demographics and as a British person I would like to point out that not all of us a posh totties like the film thinks that we are. I will say though that despite its usual problems, the orange tint is no longer there or it is there but toned down more than normal. It also had an ending that works well though does leave it open for future entries which we know now isn't happening. I'd say if you really want to bring the series to a close, then by all means watch this one. But otherwise, it can be skipped and you can start fresh with Bumblebee instead. 3/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
