Random Video Game Review - Slime Rancher

When I think of anything to do with looking after balls of slime, I'm always reminding myself of Stardew Valley with its own little slime thing where you can look after your own slimes. For a long time I thought this was a spin-off, but I was proven wrong almost instantly. Its also kind of nice to review an easy and relaxing game than my normal hardcore and story driven game. It was in Early Access for a very long time and has had its full release. Plus with it being on sale on Steam at present, no better time to review it than now so let's take a look:

Played from a first person perspective and within some kind of open world, gamers get control Beatrix LeBeau who is a rancher from Earth that's come to live on the planet Far Far Range to live the life of a titular slime rancher. As with most farm like simulation games, you get to construct your ranch and explore the world to find things that can make slimes as well as feed them to gain things. Beatrix is equipped with some kind of vacuum which can collect food and things to create slimes with. However the amount of items that one can carry at any given time is limited and so you have to unload items to squeeze more in. Upgrades are key as they let you have more buildings in the ranch, more homes for the slimes that you raise and look after and even some personal ones like a new slot in the backpack. All sorts of different slimes are about and have differing personalities and characteristics that may or may not be hostile and the like.

Its a fun and colourful game that makes me want to smile every time I play it. The slimes are very cute, the design looks sweet and innocent and gameplay is pretty spot on. It lives up to its name, but I still think people may be confused with the concept's use in Stardew Valley of which this game has no connection to at all. 9/10
