So after what felt like forever, Stranger Things is back for its third season. I think with House of Cards and Orange is the new Black both having come to an end, this show feels like the only one left that is the most watched show on the streaming service. Given that Disney will be entering the streaming scene later this year, its going to be hard for Netflix to be able to keep up. Personally I hope they manage to find a way moving forward and rightly so because there's a lot they have going on their platform. So going back to the review, let's see how much 80s nostalgia we can find once again:
Dubbed as Stranger Things 3 as if it was an actual film, the series this time around is set around the summer of 1985 as opposed to autumn and Halloween as it has done in the last couple of seasons. A newly built mall known as the Starcourt Mall has opened in the town of Hawkins and has put a lot of places out of business as a result. Our young heroes are now properly teenagers and each are seemingly in a relationship of sorts. Meanwhile Cheif Jim Hopper (reprised by David Harbour) is conflicted over Mike (reprised by Finn Wolfhard) and Eleven (reprised by Millie Bobby Brown) being in a relationship while Joyce (reprised by Winona Ryder) is considering moving out of Hawkins for better prospects seeing as her family have been suffering since the Upside Down first opened. As things start to settle, things then take a turn for the worse when monsters from the Upside Down return with a score to settle with Eleven while Soviet scientists attempt to open the Upside Down again. Our heroes (old and young) must now work together once again to stop the trouble that occurs while enjoying some ice cream and something that comes in at 80 miles per hour.
Although feeling like more of the same, the season starts out differently to before in which the Upside Down doesn't come into effect until a few episodes in. I guess this could be because of it being set around summer instead of autumn and to allow character development for all the characters. Otherwise it is another great season in which all the main protagonists play a part throughout the series and it even has a few story arcs for each group of characters. Although the ending does make out that its the last season of the series, I'm convinced by the credits scene that we'll be seeing a lot more of it very soon. In other words, there a more stranger things to come I'm sure of it. 9/10
