Random Video Game Review - Barotrauma

Ahh Daedalic, a video game company known for their wide variety of point and click games which, unlike TellTale, are largely all original IPs even though most are exclusive to PC with a few also available for other platforms too. Despite this, they have also made a few games outside the point and click genre, and this is one of them. An attempt to do a side scrolling RPG and I think they did a good job. Should point out that they are more publisher than developer as this game was made by a Finnish studio called Undertow Games and also FakeFish Games, but Daedalic still published it. Let's take a look:

Set on the Jupiter moon known as Europa, we are in submarines submerged beneath the moon's thick ice. Each player is given a job to do with a mission that the overall crew receive. The job in question may provide the player with specialized traits and equipment, whereas the mission could be anything from transporting cargo to recovering alien artifacts. With each job completed, the player is then given free roam for the rest of the round, whereby there may be some additional objectives. Like with Among Us, there will be times when someone or something will jeopardize the mission somehow, and it's up to the player and the crew to make sure the submarine works OK. Because the submarine is the only source of oxygen for the crew, a hull breach that isn't fixed will likely bring about the end of a round.

While obviously a game that's very similar to Among Us, it attempts to do its own take on the familiar gameplay by upping the potential danger. It's a pretty decent game despite the lack of innovation, but if you want a more hardcore Among Us like game, this is it. 8/10
