Taking a break now from all those Netflix original films, we have what many consider to be one of those classic Christmas films. Not quite as iconic as say Home Alone, Elf or Love Actually. But it is one people do remember fondly. Of course, we all know these actors from all sorts of things because well, they are all very well known. Even today, when these four aren't doing quite as many films or TV as they used to do, people still know and love the work they do (myself included). So let's take a look:
The film focuses on Daily Telegraph society columnist Iris (played by Kate Winslet) and movie trailer producer Amanda (played by Cameron Diaz), both two lovelorn ladies who live on opposite sides of the world. To escape heartbreak, both agree to a home exchange during the festive period of Christmas. Although they experience things differently, they both end up with a man and experience the joy of love and heartbreak all over again, hopeful that things may play out differently this time.
Sweet and touching in nearly every way, this film is OK. I can see why people remember it because it's not jam packed with lots of people and storylines like say the Avengers films and it's pretty easy to follow despite the predictable story. But we have some good acting from everyone, and some of us may finish the film feeling a sense of joy and happiness (or something else entirely). 8/10
