Ahh Deep Silver, the people behind the Saints Row and Dead Rising series. Saints Row being like GTA, but lacking in the graphics department, and Dead Rising being that one series that had a few games with one being announced and then nothing. Yeah, they are an interesting game publisher that make some games that generally get a mixed reaction, and this is just one of them. It's an open world action RPG with survival elements, so this may actually be intriguing. Let's take a look:
The game has you play as your own character who is an inhabitant of the city of Cierzo who has got shipwrecked off the coast. They had previously been given a debt which must be paid periodically from their ancestors. But as the ship was supposed to pay it off, the character has only five days to pay it off and retain the family holdings. But that is far from the true story of the game. Although largely using the usual mechanics of most action RPGs, survival elements are thrown in to add a bit of difficulty such as hunger, thirst, warmth and so forth. To make things more difficult, the game has an auto save system with no way of manually saving, which can be hard for those difficult battles you face and receiving certain conditions and illnesses. The game also has a magic system, but finding the spells can be difficult, as can acquiring certain skills and abilities. Most quests can end differently, with an effect on the story and world.
To sum up this game, it is a tough one. Challenging, but games are meant to be fun and if you can't have fun playing a difficult game like this, you will struggle. But I like games like this. Challenges may not always be fun, but can be rewarding to some degree, and that's good. This game is hard, but does well in trying something a little different to the norm. But just the whole idea of having a challenging game can put some people off. 8/10
