So before we go into this one, I should point out that even though it's a Netflix Christmas film with Vanessa Hudgens and royalty is "sort of" involved, it has nothing to do with the Princess Switch films. But it is the third film I know of and seen that involves time travel and medieval knights. Sounds interesting doesn't it even though it's not the most original of scenarios (though then again, what actually is original these days). Let's take a look:
On December 18th 1334 in Norwich, England, a squire called Cole (played by Josh Whitehouse) goes into the woods and comes across a strange old lady (played by Ella Kenion). He offers her shelter, and she thanks him for his kindness. As a reward, she magically sends him to a faraway land to go on a quest to earn knighthood, but must fulfil his quest before midnight on Christmas Eve, or he will be trapped in this land forever. Cole finds himself in 2019 Ohio and gets taken to hospital when he gets hit by a car. There he befriends high school science teacher Brooke (played by Hudgens) who offers up her place to help him recover and get used to this new and unfamiliar world he finds himself in. They both learn a thing or two about each other and the world, and possibly may find love in some form.
It is a pretty silly film if I'm being honest, though some things that Netflix offers can be quite silly anyway. Nevertheless, it's a pretty decent film with good acting, charming moments and proof that sometimes being somewhere new will give you what you are after. 7/10
