Random Movie Review - Red Notice

Yep, we are still going through films that were halted in production due to the pandemic. But for the most part, this may be a good thing. Because it's been known for a while now that films that have been delayed for so long, can only be a good thing. Well kind of in a way if it's films like this that people will watch, but is otherwise not high priority. Whereas bigger films that people desperately want to see, it's kind of debatable as to why it has the delays. But here we have a film featuring three huge names whose only things in common are that they have all appeared (or will appear at some point) in DC and Fast and Furious films. Some good, some bad, and some we don't talk about. So let's see whether having them together in a film was a good idea or not:

Many years ago, a Roman General gives three bejewelled eggs as a wedding gift to Cleopatra (played by Brenna Marie Narayan) in an attempt to show his devotion. The eggs get lost in time and while two are recovered by a farmer in 1907, the third one remains lost. Cut to 2021, FBI criminal profiler John Hartley (played by Dwayne Johnson), is assigned to assist Interpol agent Urvashi Das (played by Ritu Arya) in the investigation of the potential theft of one of the eggs at a building in Rome, Italy (one that I will not be spelling as it's a hard one to spell). Hartley discovers that the egg is a fake and happens to stumble across the art thief Nolan Booth (played by Ryan Reynolds) who has the real egg. But unbeknownst to everyone, the egg he has is another forgery and the real egg is in the possession of Booth's rival Sarah Black (played by Gal Gadot) goes by the name The Bishop. One thing leads to another and a pair is formed to find the real eggs and then who knows what will happen after that.

Although incredibly unoriginal, it's OK for an action comedy. The three main stars act well and the chemistry they have is good. The film is very slick, probably not one I will watch again, and has some decent humour and wit. Not much more to say than that, and it's probably for the best that it ended up being a Netflix original film. 7/10
