Random Video Game Review - Brawlhalla

Everybody wants to be like Smash Brothers. This is another one of those "knock numerous opponents off the stage" game which, since Smash Brothers, has become a very popular style of fighting games. This one was published by Ubisoft, but rather than strictly be their franchises, the franchises that appear are pretty random. Kind of like LEGO Dimensions with its franchises coming from a wide array of companies, studios and so forth. Well, let's see what this game does for the genre that Smash Brothers made popular:

So as I said, in many of its modes, it follows the general gameplay of Smash Brothers. The concept remains the same (albeit with some differences) with the last player standing or the player with the most points winning each match. The game features local and online multiplayer as expected, with a ranking system in place and several casual modes to choose from (with each one getting featured each week). Simple controls and one button special moves, make this game pretty accessible for most, with the game supporting a wide array of controllers. Gameplay is in a 2.5D form with items and weapons to use and each character having their own stats and all that.

Being in mind that this is a Free to Play game, and therefore you will need to buy DLC to make it complete, this game is pretty good. Very much like Smash Brothers, but not the sort of crossover game I would want to see. But with a great set of characters from the likes of Cartoon Network, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, some comic books and even Ubisoft themselves, this makes for a fine game overall. A shame its one you have to pay a lotta money to make it complete. 7/10
