Movie Review - Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

OK so not exactly video game related, but some will say that the look and feel of it is reminiscent of Fortnite. That and as overly adapted as the story is, even A Christmas Carol has had a few video games here and there. Here we have the animated adaptation done by Netflix Animation. Yes you heard right, Netflix have their own dedicated animation studio as they continue to be like every other studio out there despite losing subscribers. But on top of all that, this version is also a musical which has been done before previously if you remember The Muppets and some of the stage productions out there. But anyway, let's see if this is a winner or another "bah humbug":

The film begins with a jolly man called Harry Huffman (voiced by Fra Fee) singing about how much he loves the holiday. He has an elderly uncle called Ebenezer Scrooge (voiced by Luke Evans) who manages to evade him (unlike his dog Prudence) long enough to not give money to charity and upping the debt of a local toy shop. He refuses any offer to come for a Christmas meal and reluctantly allows his employee Bob Cratchit (voiced by Johnny Flynn) to take Christmas Day off. Leaving a trail of ice coldness behind, Scrooge returns home where soon his way of going about things, may change forever when a few spirits of sorts arrive.

This version of the story is decent at best. Sometimes the songs can be unnecessary and a bit overboard, and the animation just looks like your typical small budget style TV animation. But the acting alright and most if not all the characters are actually quite pleasant looking and sounding. Probably not the best attempt of the story out there, but far from the worst. 7/10
