Random West End Show Review - Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

So its the story of a singer/song-writer known for many hit songs like So Far Away and You've Got a Friend. At first, I wasn't sure about this show, but after seeing it, I kind of enjoyed it. So let's talk about it:

Following a similar setting to Memphis where the show's story is told over several years that make up the decades of the 20th century where music was at its prime, the story is about a girl called Carole King (played by Cassidy Janson), a Brooklyn resident who gets a song writing job at 1650 Broadway where she writes songs alongside her partner and later on husband Gerry Goffin (played by Matthew Seadon-Young) which for the most part end up becoming hit songs. 1650 Broadway then gets another duo of song writers in the form of Cynthia Weil (played by Lorna Want) and Barry Mann (played by Ian McIntosh) and together the 4 of them write a parade of songs where some are hits and others are not. While both couples deal with personal issues and other things all leading up to Carole King's rise to becoming a singer as well as a song writer.

Its a pretty fun show that has great songs sang by not the original people who sang them initially, but good impersonators of said groups. Its well acted throughout, it has some serious moments as well as funny moments too. It really is an overall good time to be had by many. Whether its faithful to the true story is unknown to me, but its a fun show nonetheless. 9/10
