Movie Review - Fast & Furious 8: The Fate of the Furious

Well here we are again. After waiting to find out how things will plan out following Paul Walker's passing, this is what we get. Though given that this scenario about one guy betraying those he once called his friends has been done before in the past, that's really what most of us are not here for. Oh no, we are here for cars and over the top fast paced action. So without further ado, let's get fast and furious for the 8th time:

So the film begins in Havana where Dom (reprised by Vin Deisel) and Letty (reprised by Michelle Rodriguez) are spending their honeymoon. There Dom takes part in a race like he does and earns the respect of the locales as a result. But he then meets a woman called Cipher (played by Charlize Theron, that badass from Fury Road) who convinces him to betray his family and work with her on the condition that she will free someone Dom cares very much about. Upon doing so, DSS agent Luke Hobbs (reprised by Dwayne Johnson) is arrested and before long, he and the rest of Dom's family along with a reluctant Deckard Shaw (reprised by Jason Statham) join up with Mr. Nobody (reprised by Kurt Russell) and his protegee Little Nobody (played by Scott Eastwood) to take down both Cipher and Dom before they initiate World War III.

I personally feel that the seventh film is still the best one as it just has that one over the top stunt that really cannot be topped. But having said that, I like that this film has a go at hacking cars for a change and just continues to have those cool shots and badass moments (especially with Johnson who I swear in this film is a beast). I think it was inevitable that there would be a film where someone betrays the family (though not quite in the way Brian did in the very first film mind you), but I like it and it has a very decent all star cast who are all just having fun as always. 9/10
